I think that before we scatter for the holidays, it would

about-

be desirable that we should have a talk with you about the

arrangements for the proposed conference between the Powers interested

in the Far East on the subject of the measures to be taken for the

more effective application of lart .I of the International Opium Convention, and the preliminary inquiries and preparations which will

be necessary so far as the British Government is concerned.

I shouls

have written to you sooner on the matter I mentioned it in

conversation with Paskin before he went on leave, nd kimicino te

mntioned it to Collins), but I have been waiting for the prints of

the Report and Hinutes of the recent meeting of the Orium Advisory

Committee of the League at which the recommendation for the

Conference was adopted. Even now the prints have not arrived,

though I am expecting them every day.

The Council of the League have referred the recommendation of the Oplum Committee to the Assembly of the Leupe, and no doubt there will be a good deal of discussion at the meeting of the Assembly in September the t 18 what makes it desirable that we should get our ideas on the subject of the arrangements for the conference. etc., etc., quite clear, so that we may know exactly what

line to take at the Assembly.

If you see, would some day towards the latter end of next

week suit you?

Yours sincerely,

malcolm Belevigne
